About the Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP)
The Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP) at UC Berkeley is an esteemed institution that hosts 30 ladder-rank faculty, 12 emeritus faculty, 70+ staff members, and over 30 academic lecturers. Spanning across seven buildings, GSPP offers various educational programs, including a Masters of Public Policy (MPP), a Masters of Public Affairs (MPA), a Masters of Development Practice (MDP), and a PhD program in Public Policy.
In addition to graduate programs, GSPP also offers an undergraduate Public Policy minor, along with a summer program known as the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) program, aimed at senior undergraduates. Position Overview: Web Content Manager (7455U)
As the Web Content Manager for the Goldman School of Public Policy, you will be responsible for overseeing the digital content for the GSPP website. This role involves managing written, visual, and audio content, ensuring it aligns with the school’s message and mission. You will work closely with various teams, including graphic designers, web developers, and content creators, to ensure the GSPP website remains engaging, user-friendly, and up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Coordination:
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee the written, visual, and audio content for GSPP web properties.
- Use the website’s Content Management System (CMS) to manage strategic content placement.
- Content Creation:
- Write, edit, and proofread web content, including interviews with students, faculty, alumni, and donors to showcase the school’s mission and achievements.
- Collaboration with Web Developer:
- Work with the GSPP web developer to continuously enhance website design and user experience.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors, such as graphic designers, videographers, and freelance writers.
- Project Leadership:
- Lead and coordinate content creation efforts with research centers and staff.
- Oversee student assistants working on web-related tasks, including video production, photography, web updates, and digital accessibility.
- Website Redesign Project:
- Act as the project lead for a future website redesign in 1-2 years and manage any websites branching off from the main GSPP site.
- Accessibility and Accuracy:
- Ensure the website adheres to UC Berkeley’s brand guidelines and meets accessibility and technical standards.
- Stay Updated on Trends:
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in marketing and digital engagement to enhance web content and user interaction.
- Other Duties:
- Carry out additional duties as assigned to support the school’s digital strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong experience as a content creator, including writing, storytelling, editing, interviewing, and proofreading.
- In-depth knowledge of creating accessible, user-friendly, and well-designed websites that align with GSPP’s strategic objectives.
- Proficiency in modern web communication tools such as publishing, podcasting, animation, and web interaction.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop original content ideas.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical expertise in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Expression Engine).
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Asana.
- Strong understanding of web design fundamentals and user experience principles to ensure engaging, accessible, and visually appealing web content.

- This is a full-time, career-level position with eligibility for up to 50% remote work within the United States. Work arrangements will be discussed with your supervisor based on department needs and responsibilities.

Under California law, UC Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable salary estimate for this position. The anticipated salary range is between $80,400 and $109,000 annually, though actual offers will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal equity. It’s rare for a new hire to start at the top of the range.
