Sonesta Hotel is seeking a motivated, part-time House Attendant (HA) to join our housekeeping team in Chicago, IL. This role is essential for providing an outstanding guest experience by supporting the Housekeeping Management Team and Room Attendants with maintaining high cleanliness and organization standards. The House Attendant will handle various tasks, including transporting linens, disposing of trash, assisting with laundry, and cleaning public areas. Additionally, special projects may be assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

Key Responsibilities

1. Uphold Sonesta Service Standards

  • Provide exceptional service to guests and clients in line with Sonesta’s G.U.E.S.T. standards. Maintain a positive attitude and ensure each interaction leaves a lasting impression of quality service.

2. Assist Room Attendants

  • Work closely with Room Attendants by helping with heavy items such as mattresses and linens.
  • Transport fresh linens and other supplies to Room Attendant carts to ensure they are well-stocked throughout the day.

3. Maintain Floor Closets and Corridors

  • Keep closets and corridors organized and tidy by removing trash, wiping down surfaces, and vacuuming, mopping, or sweeping floors.
  • Ensure floor closets are stocked and free from non-essential items, storing them in designated areas when necessary.

4. Fulfill Guest Requests Promptly

  • Respond quickly and efficiently to guest requests for additional items or cleaning services, aiming for high levels of guest satisfaction.

5. Clean Designated Public Areas

  • Maintain the cleanliness of public restrooms, storage areas, and other common spaces.
  • Support the cleanliness of entrances, hotel grounds, and the parking lot to maintain a welcoming environment for guests.

6. Report Safety and Maintenance Concerns

  • Notify supervisors of any repairs or unsafe conditions to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.

7. Manage Lost and Found Items

  • Follow established procedures for delivering lost and found items to ensure guest belongings are handled responsibly.

8. Handle Laundry and Linens

  • Support the laundry team by operating washers and dryers per hotel and manufacturer standards.
  • Check linens for any stains or damage, and notify supervisors of issues. Store clean linens properly and ensure a steady supply for housekeeping.

9. Deep Cleaning Projects

  • Participate in deep cleaning projects on a rotating basis, ensuring all areas of the hotel meet Sonesta’s cleanliness standards.

10. Coordinate and Communicate with Team

  • Promote teamwork and smooth operations through regular communication with team members and management across shifts.

11. Comply with Health and Safety Regulations

  • Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for both guests and staff. Remain knowledgeable of federal, state, and local laws that pertain to hotel operations.

12. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Be open to additional tasks or special projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager to support the department’s goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior housekeeping experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in the extended-stay hospitality industry is a plus.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is highly desirable, though knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills are an asset for this role.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move around the facility frequently.
  • Capable of carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Comfortably handle commercial cleaning chemicals, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Willing to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
